I recently shared an image on my Instagram Stories with the Dr. Jart Re-Cover Cream way back in the background, and I had so many questions and requests for a review. I had no idea that people were so interested in this strange green cream. Having used Re-Cover for at least 18 months, I thought it was about time that I shared my review about dr jart cicapair re-cover.
WHAT IS RE-COVER CREAM?
Cicapair™ Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment is the all-in-one treatment that includes a color-changing capsule within the formula to cover blemishes and restore the look of the skin’s strength, health, and vitality. It provides SPF 30 protection from UV light, and it forms a dust barrier to protect the skin from the environment while enhancing the skin’s viability. It restores the strength of skin with the resurrection plants, houttuynia cordata and yarrow. It’s infused with sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium to help improve the skin’s moisture levels and restore fatigued skin for a healthy appearance.
Review: How Does Dr Jart Cicapair Re-cover Cream Apply?
Re-Cover isn’t really formulated to be a foundation, but instead, provide a color-correcting shade to disguise redness while soothing and treating the skin. Re-Cover comes in one shade, so if your skin tone sits above or below this, you’re going to be out of luck. Fortunately for me, I can mostly make the shade work, but I have seen it make people look very ghostly.
The mint coloured formula feels quite thick and paste-like. Only a small amount of product is needed to cover the face. I’d liken the formula and application to a thick zinc based sunscreen. It feels sticky and heavy, taking a bit of work to spread and blend in. If you are using Re-Cover for the colour-correcting properties you will need more product to get an even coverage.  The hydrating effects of Dr Jart Cicapair Re-Cover are felt immediately but the cream does tend to sit on top the skin and take a while to fully absorb. The result is quite a dewy and somewhat tacky finish; at times it almost feels waxy on the skin. If you dust on powder it will take away most of that tacky feeling.
How Does Re-cover Cream Wear?
Over the course of the day, my skin continues to feel sticky and it doesn’t take my oily skin long to start shining and breaking down the product. It does tend to start to get a little stale-looking after only a few hours, and by the end of the day, it is non-exsistant. Re-Cover certainly isn’t ideal for oily skin in summer.
I have previously chatted to beauty babes who said they sometimes use Re-Cover as a primer when their skin is a little fragile. It makes sense that the tacky finish would be ideal for makeup to adhere to. However, for me, I find the formula a little too heavy and it tends not to agree with my oily skin, making a bit of a greasy mess by the end of the day.
My Over Review About Dr Jart Cicapair Re-cover
My opinion on Re-Cover Cream constantly changes. As a skin care product, I love it. I adore the way it soothes and nourishes the skin. It is ideal for irritated and sensitized skin. It dulls any pain and redness. I love to use it after peels when my skin is tender, and it works so well after eyebrow waxes or if your skin is sunburnt. This and other Dr. Jart Cicapair products are my absolute go-to moisturisers to use when retinoids are featuring in my skincare. Not only does it soothe and nourish the skin, but Re-Cover actually protects your compromised skin against harmful UV rays.
While it works well enough to even skin tone and it does make the skin look fresh and healthy, it is definitely not what I am going to reach for if I want to some coverage. It doesn’t last well, it feels heavy and sticky on the skin. It is just not my favourite choice for a base product – bare minerals complexion rescue. However, if my skin needs soothing, any redness needs colour correcting or if I want to give my skin a big dose of vitamins while looking glowy, then this little green tub is my guy.
