Natural Nail Care Recipes for Strong and Healthy Nails

Due to constant exposure to chemicals used for household hygiene and the use of aggressive soaps, nails become brittle and colorless, but our natural nail care recipes are here to prevent that.

When doing household chores you need to wear rubber gloves to prevent contact with chemicals and to avoid damage it can do to your skin and nails.

Instead of the standard soap, it is recommended to use natural soaps, with oil or goat’s milk base, but it should be remembered that the poor quality of the nails is not always due to external factors, but it can be a sign that the body lacks essential minerals and vitamins.

That’s why you regularly need to consume foods rich in zinc such as eggs and milk, whole grains and kale that are rich in folic acid (vitamin B9).

Natural nail care recipes:

Balm against the cuticles

Ingredients:

  • beeswax
  • olive oil
  • carrot oil
  • sesame oil

Dissolve 30 g of beeswax on a mild heat, then add 30 ml of olive oil and carrot oil and 10 ml of sesame oil.  Stir for 15 minutes, remove from heat, cover and leave to cool. Transfuse into a glass container and store in a cool place. Use this balm for lubricating the cuticle and nails two to three times a day. This composition excellently prevents cuticle and for this purpose it should be massaged twice a week in the area around the nails.

Onion treatment for healthy and strong nails

Ingredients:

  • onion

Cut the onion in half, and use one half to massage your nails and cuticles. Repeat the process at least 10 days in a row. After treatment, make a soothing hand bath to remove the smell of onions.

Hand bath

Ingredients:

  • rosemary essential oil
  • juice of half a lemon

Pour a few drops of rosemary essential oil and freshly squeezed juice of half a lemon in a bowl with hot water. Keep hands submerged for about half an hour, and then coat them with primrose oil. Primrose composition is most similar to natural fats in the skin and is ideal for skin and nail care. After a few treatments, nails will cease to be splitted, and cuticles will disappear completely.

Clay mask

Ingredients:

  • olive oil
  • clay
  • lavender oil

Mix a tablespoon of olive oil and clay for external use with three drops of lavender essential oil. Stir until you get a uniform mixture, and then transfuse into a glass jar, seal it and store in a cool place. Rub this mixture on the nails and cuticles daily, so leave it on until it is completely dry. Then rinse with warm water and apply nourishing cream on your hands.

Potato and avocado mask

Ingredients: 

  • potato
  • avocado oil
  • juice of half a lemon

To improve the quality of the nails and prevent them from cracking after using detergents and various cleaning agents, make this natural nail care mask: mash one boiled potato and mix it with a tablespoon of avocado oil and the juice of half a lemon. Stir until you get a compact mass and than rub it into nails and cuticles. Let it dry for about half an hour, then rinse with warm water and apply a nourishing hand cream.

Massage Oil

Ingredients:

  • grape seed oil
  • eucalyptus oil
  • rosemary oil
  • peppermint oil

Mix 10 teaspoons of grape seed oil, three drops of eucalyptus essential oil, four drops of rosemary essential oil and two drops of peppermint essential oil, and pour into a bottle of dark glass and store in a cool place. Before each use, shake well and use every day for hand massage, nails and cuticles.

Olive oil and honey mask

Ingredients:

  • honey
  • olive oil
  • juice of half a lemon

Dissolve a tablespoon of honey on a mild temperature. Remove from heat and add a tablespoon of virgin olive oil and the juice of half a lemon. Stir with a wooden spoon until all is combined. Apply the mask evenly on the hands and then put the nylon gloves and let it dry for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with lukewarm water and apply nutritious cream. Repeat treatment every other day until the cuticles and nails do not recover, and then once a week.

Spray for strong and shiny nails

Ingredients:

  • apple vinegar
  • pumpkin seed oil
  • grape seed oil

In a spray bottle pour 10 ml of apple vinegar and 15 ml of pumpkin seed and grape seed oil. Shake well and spray nails at least once a day, and always before nail polishing. Vitamins and minerals from these oils increase resistance to breaking and splitting nails, while vinegar will restore the shine and prevent yellow color tone caused by nail polishing.

Hand and nails moisturizer

Ingredients:

  • shea butter
  • juice of half a lemon

Mix 30 g shea butter with the juice of half a lemon, and lubricate the nails and cuticles at least twice a day. Keep the cream  in a cool place in a glass bottle. Shea butter stimulates the regeneration of the nails and skin and prevents inflammation, while the lemon softens cuticles.

Beeswax cream

Ingredients:

  • beeswax
  • calandula oil
  • liquid soap

Melt the tablespoon of beeswax on a gentle heat, then add tablespoon of calendula oil and liquid soap. Stir until combined, then pour into a jar and leave to cool. Every night before going to sleep lubricate the nails and cuticles with the mixture.

Bath for strengthening nails

Ingredients:

  • lemon juice
  • distilled water
  • jojoba oil

Heat one lemon juice, a tablespoon of distilled water and a spoonful of jojoba oil on a gentle temperature. Soak fingertips in the bath and hold at least 15 minutes. Do not rinse, but pick up the excess with a towel. If the bath is applied every  night, nails become extremely tight.

Try at least one of this natural nail care recipes and stick with the treatment all the way, and you will see a great improvement on your nails. They will no longer split or break and cuticles will disappear.
