Skincare While Traveling

Traveling can be harsh on your skin, especially if you are traveling by air. However, if you do a few things to prepare, you can get to your destination with skin that is both refreshed and amazing.

If you travel, even once a year, you are well aware of the toll that travel can take. If you travel often, you know that it can take a lot of time to get your great skin back after you get to your destination and back home.

If you have ever flown on a plane, you know that your skin can look as much as 10 years older when you land. Take comfort in the fact that you are not the only one that this happens too.

This is due to the significantly low humidity in the airplane cabin. This dries and dehydrates your skin, taking away your youthful glow. The air in the cabin is recirculated and since it wants moisture, it typically leeches it from your skin. This makes oily skin more oily and dries out all skin types.

Read on to get the information that you need to keep your skin healthy and youthful throughout all parts of your trip.

Bring a Great Beauty Bag Along

Once you know what you can bring along on a plane, it is time to pack a beauty bag that will keep your skin happy the entire time.

You want to pack the following in approved amounts and containers: moisturiser, hand sanitiser, a hydrating cleanser, a lip balm and a hand cream (Make sure that you are following the guideline of 3.4 ounces for each product).

You will apply these before, throughout and after your flight to help your skin.

When you are going to be flying, you want to avoid wearing makeup. Yes, this is no fun, but it will help your skin so that you look amazing at your destination.

You can always apply your makeup as soon as you get to your destination.

You mostly want to avoid powders and foundation, but if you want to wear a little lip gloss and mascara, there is no harm in this. If for some reason you are in a hurry and you arrive at the airport with makeup on, make sure to bring some makeup wipes along to remove it.

Hydrate and Protect Your Skin

Throughout the flight, make sure that you have easy access to your moisturiser. You will want to be able to hydrate your face and your hands every hour or so to keep your skin healthy and glowing.

This may sound like a pain, but you will be happy that you did it after you land.

Always Bring Sunscreen

You are in an airport and on a plane all day, so you likely are not thinking about sunscreen.

However, when you are in the air, the sun is even brighter because you are closer to it. Airports also have a lot of windows and there are windows on the plane.

Protect yourself from UV ray damage by making sure to wear a good sunscreen on your body and bring some sunglasses too.

Drink A Lot of Water

Being up in the air can do a number on dehydrating your skin and this means that you are getting dehydrated overall.

To prevent this from happening, you need to drink plenty of water. This is especially important if you are calming your nerves with a glass of wine on the flight. Ideally, for every hour you are on the plane, you want to drink a glass of water, or a bottle of water, depending on what is available.
