Relaxing Orange Bath Salts Recipe – Perfect for a Gift

When I was first about to make orange bath salts, I researched whether it is possible that minerals from the salt, such as magnesium, can be absorbed into the skin while taking a bath.

Unfortunately, I haven’t found any scientific evidence that bath salt minerals can be absorbed when dissolved in a bath water. I did, however, find this article that lists 2 research:

  • one that found that magnesium doesn’t absorb through the skin and
  • one that found that people that took regular salt baths had increased magnesium levels.

But nothing has officially been proven so I’ll leave that question open.

But no matter what the research says, all of us who tried scented bath salts know how nice and relaxing it is, whether the minerals are absorbed or not 🙂

People often say that bath salts helped them with sore muscles after working out, psoriasis, eczema, and acne. It’s no harm to try, right? 🙂

This orange bath salts also make a great, colorful gift that everyone would be happy to receive.

Orange Bath Salts Recipe

Materials:

  • Digital scale or measuring spoons
  • Container for the bath salts

Ingredients:

  • 200 g (13 tablespoons) dead sea salt
  • 30 g (2 tablespoons) baking soda
  • 10 drops high quality sweet orange essential oil
  • 12 drops food coloring (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Weight out the dead sea salt and baking soda and mix them together.
  2. Add 10 drops of sweet orange essential oil.
  3. If you want to make your bath salts in orange and white, separate half of the bath salts in another pot and add approximately 12 drops of food coloring to one half. Or add any desired amount of drops until you reach the desired color.
  4. You might want to wait for 5-10 minutes before putting the bath salts in the container so that the white salt doesn’t soak up the color from the colored salt.
  5. After a few minutes, put white and orange bath salts in the container alternately to get white and orange stripes.

This amount of bath salt is enough for 4 baths. Use ¼ of it per bath.

That is pretty much it. Easy, right? Enjoy your bath!
