I was thrilled when I came across this Pyunkang Yul Acne Facial Cleanser. I have been searching for the best cleanser for my husband. He has acne-prone, dehydrated, and oily skin with huge pores. He wants a gentle and hydrating cleanser, within certain budget. Most guys don’t like to spend a lot on skincare I must say. It looks simple and hydrating, it is affordable, and it is also designed for acne-prone skin type by a reputable Korean clinical brand. Now, let’s look at my husband’s date with this cleanser that I think will fit him perfectly!
Review Pyunkang Yul Acne Facial Cleanser
Most of us are familiar with Pyunkang Yul. It has recently become so popular that almost every Instagrammers are raving about it. It uses simple but effective oriental medical ingredients for skincare. Recently, it came out with this Acne line for acne-prone and oily skin types.
This Acne Facial Cleanser is housed in a white tube. Each tube is retailed for roughly RM30. You can find this at many places like Hermo, Wako Beauty, Althea and so on.
The product comes in a transparent gel without any scent whatsoever. It lathers up upon contacting with water into big and bouncy bubbles.
The cleanser claims to do three things:
- deep-pores cleansing – it contains white willow bark extract (natural BHA) to gently dissolve blackheads and sebum buildups
- anti-bacterial effect – it is loaded with oriental herbs with detoxifying and soothing effects
- anti-inflammatory and skin regeneration – it contains copper tripeptide to soothe and repair skin damages especially acne scar
Review Pyunkang Yul Acne Facial Cleanser Ingredients
This cleanser uses cocamidopropyl betaine, sodium methyl oleoyl taurate, and disodium cocoamphodipropionate etc as surfactants, with a 2-4 safety scores on CosDNA. My only concern here is cocamidopropyl betaine which is a synthetic surfactant that has been associated with allergic reaction among users mostly due to the impurities present in the ingredients. It really depends on quality control of Pyunkang Yul manufacturer then.
Useful ingredients here are white willow bark extract, lian qiao extract, centella asiatica, Japanese knotweed extract, green tea and so on. White willow bark is a natural BHA with the ability to dissolve dead skin cells, clean up sebum and reduce inflammation and breakouts. Centella asiatica is commonly known as cica, which is a popular calming and soothing ingredient for sensitive and damaged skin. This cleanser also has chamomile flower extract for added soothing and anti-oxidizing benefits. The rest mentioned here are mainly extracts with anti-oxidizing benefits. Finally, we also have copper tripeptide-1, a growth factor, which can promote cellular repair and thus is beneficial for wound-healing and acne scars reducing benefits.
Review Pyunkang Yul Acne Facial Cleanser Performance
My husband loves this cleanser. He thinks that this is a really gentle cleanser for everyday’s use. It also foams up easily despite its gel-like texture. His face does look clearer and less pimpling after using this cleanser. However, it doesnt help to reduce his sebum so his skin remains as oily as it were before. The good news is of course less blackheads and breakouts observed.
My husband loves this and he will definitely repurchase. He just repurchased Innisfree Sea Salt Jelly Cleanser and will use both cleansers alternatively as replacements. Thanks for reading my post and see you next post “Review Huxley Secret of Sahara Cleansing Gel”
