Skin Care Uses for Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is one of the most popular natural beauty products around today. This is largely due to how versatile it is because it can be used for so many things.

Some people have replaced several skin care products with a single jar of coconut oil to improve the health of their skin and save a rather significant amount of money.

Before you head to the store to purchase a jar of coconut oil, take a few minutes to learn about all of the ways that you can use it in your skin care routine.

Soothe Dry Skin

Dry skin can be very uncomfortable, so you want to hydrate and soothe your skin as quickly as possible.

Coconut oil can be applied anywhere on the body to provide a massive dose of moisture. It works especially well for dry and cracking hands and feet.

In this case, apply the coconut oil to the affected area, cover the area with cotton socks or gloves, allow the oil to stay on overnight and the rinse in the morning for smoothed and soothed skin.

Removing Your Makeup

Finding a good makeup remover is not easy, especially when it comes to products that remove makeup from your eyes.

You need something strong enough to remove waterproof mascara, but gentle enough for the delicate skin in the area.

Coconut oil fits the bill perfectly because it is very gentle on your skin, it moisturises and protects your eye area as you remove makeup and it will break down eye makeup that is inky and waxy.

You can use this on a daily basis and once you remove all of your makeup, simply follow up with your favourite cleanser to finish removing your makeup and any excess coconut oil.

Cleansing Your Skin

Those with dry skin may find that washing their face with coconut oil works to hydrate their skin while also removing impurities.

This oil also helps to calm atopic dermatitis and it contains anti-fungal and antibacterial properties.

It is important to note that this is an oil, so if you have oily skin, coconut oil as a cleanser may not be ideal.

To use this oil as a cleanser, wet your face and then use circular motions with your fingertips to gently cleanse your skin.

Once you finish washing your face with this oil, use a gentle cleanser and go over your face one more time. This will remove coconut oil traces so that you do not have to worry about the oil clogging your pores.

Exfoliator Base

Exfoliating your skin is important, but some people need a hydrating base when exfoliating to protect their skin.

You can create an exfoliator with coconut oil and the sugar that you keep in your pantry.

Combine the two ingredients and then exfoliate the skin anywhere on your body, including your face, using this homemade exfoliator. This mixture will remove dead skin cells and polish your skin while also hydrating your skin at the same time.

This type of exfoliation is ideal for all people, but especially those with dry and sensitive skin.

As you can see, coconut oil can be used for just about all aspects of your skin care routine. Since it is all-natural, there is a low risk of it causing any problems with your skin.

In fact, it is better for your skin than many commercial skin care products because it does not contain any harsh ingredients, dyes or fragrances.

Even if you replace one product with coconut oil, you will be doing your skin a major favour.
