Hello beauties, We all know the benefits of cleansing oil; effective at removing makeup while still being gentle on the skin. Personally, I don’t love using a cleansing oil as I find its too messy. I much prefer using a cleansing balm such as Emma Hardie. Any who, here’s my comparison of the very pricey Shu Uemura Skin Purifier against the more affordable Nu’tri Nourishing Cleansing Oil.
Review the Shu Uemura Skin Purifier
- Retails for $68 for 150ml
- The Shu Uemera cleansings oils come in a variety of formulas, targeting normal skin, oily skin and dry skin. Personally, I find it hard to believe they could be that different, but then again I’ve only tried the one cleansing oil from the brand
- The packaging is great- love the pump!
- I tend to use anywhere between 1 to 3 pumps to remove my makeup
- Its lightly scented, so if you have sensitive skin you should still be fine to use it
- Texture wise, its not too thick and heavy and not too light
- When you add water to the cleansing oil, it lightly emulsifies but I prefer to still remove all the residue with a damp muslin cloth
- I find it very effective at removing heavy makeup and eye makeup. I used a cotton round with some micellar water and there was barely any leftover makeup
- When wearing waterproof mascara it did a good job, but didn’t remove it all
- Also, they’re not very clear about the ingredients and what oils are contained which is a little concerning…
Review the Nu’tri Nourishing Cleansing Oil
- Retails for $24.95 for 100ml
- The Nu’tri Cleansing oil contains beautiful natural ingredients such as; rosehip oil, sacha inchi oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil, olive oil, willowbark extract, tumeric, papaya extract and camu camu rich in antioxidants & vitamins a, b, c, e
- Texture wise its quite watery/ liquidy and a lot thinner than the Shu Uemura one
- I tend to use a lot more product and as it doesn’t dispense as much product, I tend to use about 7 pumps to remove my makeup. It sounds a lot but its probably about 20 cents worth
- When I apply water to the cleansing oil it doesn’t emulsify, so the best way to remove is with a damp muslin cloth
- The cleansing oil does a pretty good job at removing heavy make up, and definitely is more effective at removing light coverage makeup
- It doesn’t remove waterproof mascara, and does an average job to remove non-waterproof eye makeup
Overall, I think its fair to say I did not find a dupe for the Shu Uemura cleansing oil. Yes its more expensive but you need less and its more effective at removing makeup. While I’ve enjoyed using the Shu Uemura cleansing oil, I’m still not a fan of cleansing oils. They’re a bit messy. Anyone with me?
