Today, I review Missha All Around Safe Block Aqua Sun Gel SPF 50+ PA++++. I am reintroducing this Aqua Sun Gel that, in my opinion, is as good as Biore UV Aqua Rich Essence, in term of its texture and ingredients. I talked about it previously but since Missha recently reformulated its sunscreen line I was curious to see the differences between both formulations.

Basically, there isn’t much of a difference between the packaging, texture and scent of both formulations.

The packaging may look vastly difference, because the older one is a collaboration with Line Friends, but technically they are all squeezable tube with a small opening on top. They are both in blue design.

They are both water gel based sunscreen with SPF50+ PA++++ that will get absorbed into your skin quickly to provide a hydrating and cooling effect.

INGREDIENTS ANALYSIS

The ingredients are slightly different from the previous formulation, that I have shared previously.

Main UV filters here are homosalate, octisalate, avobenzone, tinosorb S, octocrylene, and amiloxate. These provide broad spectrum protection covering both UVA and UVB rays. Some of these are FDA-approved, some are not like tinosorb S and amiloxate but they are commonly used in Europe and Asia. Avobenzone is a good but relatively unstable UVA filter, but its stability is further enhanced with the use of octocrylene and tinosorb S. The combination provides a dual-filter, double layer sun protection against both UVA and UVB rays.

A small amount of white mulberry tree extract, green tea, chamomile, and so on are also added to offer antioxidizing and dark spots reducing benefits, and to protect the skin against UV damages. This new formula has glacial water and ice plant extract in it for added cooling and hydrating benefits.

PERFORMANCE

I notice that this is the sunscreen that I will reach out for most of the time, besides Biore UV Aqua Rich Essence, Krave Beauty Beet the Sun, and Make P:rem Capsule Sun Gel. I find it lightweight, hydrating, cooling, and non-pilling at all. It gets absorbed into my skin almost immediately without any irritation or stickiness. It is even lighter than Make P:rem Capsule Sun Gel!

My skin does well without any burning, excessive sweating, or darkening after using this. Of course, I can’t tell whether this is effective at blocking UVA or not with bare eyes but newer sun spots aren’t emerging as quickly as before which is a good sign I think.

I think this is definitely a lightweight and gentler formulation compared to Biore UV Aqua Rich Essence hence I have since repurchased a bottle for replacement once I run out of it.
